About Adventure & Guide

Most of the Adventure games here are story-first projects where the player moves a protagonist through a chain of scenes and picks branches along the way. The label is looser than it sounds, because a game gets it for a sprawling plot, a mystery to untangle or a new town to settle into, not for puzzles or inventory hunting. Settings run from a mid-century fantasy Europe to a smuggler's crew crossing the galaxy, and the tone shifts with them. Readers who want the structure at its most familiar can start with Chasing Sunsets, which follows a man home from abroad and across several countries, a much wider canvas than the campus stories that fill other archives.

Nearly everything in the list is an adult game, and the tags show it. Big-chested character art and 2dcg turn up again and again, though only a few titles share any one tag, which tells you the list is varied rather than uniform. Multiple Endings and Story Rich are the most repeated descriptors, and they are a fair guide to the pacing: expect long stretches of reading with decisions that close off routes.

Amnesia, mansions and other starting points

A surprising number of premises begin with a reset. In FreshWomen, Season 2 the hero has lost memories after an accident and starts college with a clean slate. My New Memories opens in a hospital after a car crash. Midnight Sin goes another way, with a bodyguard job in a mansion after a father's murder, and Artemis: Book One starts from a ruined business deal. Several of these lean on mystery or corruption as much as romance, and Inside Jennifer puts you in the role of a female protagonist, which is less common.

How far the mechanics go

Plenty of games sit alongside other genres. Fox Girls Never Play Dirty mixes in RPG elements and animation, while Tales From The Unending Void: Season 1 carries Simulation and Casual tags on top of its space-opera plot. Artemis lists Action. Others are close to pure reading. Because the genre is so permissive, it is worth checking the extra labels, such as Simulation or RPG, before assuming how much hands-on play a game has. Some entries are also Early Access, so a story may be unfinished.

Platforms and languages

Windows is covered by nearly every game, and most also have Linux and macOS builds. About half offer an Android APK. English is nearly universal, with Simplified Chinese, Russian and French each present in about half and Brazilian Portuguese in some.

This is a good fit for readers who want long, plot-heavy games and are happy to follow one route at a time, and less so for anyone expecting classic puzzle adventures.
